The AFFCAD Uganda Economic Empowerment Scheme

Uganda’s poverty statistics are worse in slum areas, which have particularly high population densities and bleak employment outcomes (find out more about Uganda’s History). That’s why the AFFCAD Uganda Economic Empowerment Scheme aims to increase sustainable job opportunities for healthy and disabled youths living in Bwaise, one of the largest and poorest slums of Kampala, Uganda.

The program achieves this by addressing a mismatch between market demands and the youth’s actual skills. The youths are provided with vocational skills training as well as the chance to develop soft skills, financial literacy and links with local financial institutions.

The scheme has helped over 3,000 youths find decent jobs and over 600 youths receive startup capital to build their own businesses. But many thousands living in Bwaise are still waiting for the chance to rise out of poverty themselves.

You can help them now by donating to AFFCAD UK.
